Ipsy Monthly Subscription

So when I heard of a monthly subscription for beauty products I couldn’t wait to join. Especially when you stick with the same brand because you don’t want to spend a lot of money, to experiment. Well when I decided to give it a try, I was overwhelmed with how many actual monthly beauty boxes there are. The more popular ones being Ipsy, Birchbox, & Glossybox, which also range in price. They also have boxes for specific needs like Julep Maven for Nail Polish Junkies and CurlBox for hair products. My main concern was that I would only get samples sizes of brands I had never heard of. But when you take the quiz, they ask you what brands you like & they have some well known brands like too Faced, Stila, Smashbox & many more. I reviewed “Glam Bags” which is what they call them, from previous months & was happy to see recognizable brands & good size products. I made my decision, I would start an Ipsy monthly subscription, which costs only $10 a month and includes shipping. I went on their website to sign up, but that did not work out like I had planned, there is a wait list to get the subscription started. I received an email to follow some steps so I could move up the wait list faster; the usual share on Facebook for your friends, follow them & a few others. Once I followed all the steps, I received an email that I would be sent a bag starting next month, which would be June. I just couldn’t wait to get it, I was anxious what would it contain. It comes with a re-usable make up bag, and 4 or 5 products that range from beauty, hair or skincare. It’s all based on the quiz that you take when you sign up. Well I can say that I was very happy with my June Glam Bag, so far I have received 3 bags and have discovered some brands I hadn’t heard of but loved. The products are a good size, enough for you to try & decide whether you like or not, plus some are full size. I also like that you can go on Instagram & see pictures of how the beauty product is being used, which is a plus. You can also get full size products from points, which you earn. By reviewing the products you received and also by having your friends sign up for a subscription. So here are my Ipsy bags from June, July & August.

Sinful Color Nail Polish

So while making a quick stop at Walgreen’s to pick up some necessities, I managed to pick up a couple of bottles of nail polish. I usually go thru the makeup aisle and pick up a few things. Good thing I did because I noticed that the Sinful Colors Professional Nail Polishes where on sale for $.99. I grabbed 8 bottles of & went to get what I was there for. Unfortunately I had no time to look thru all the colors so I just grabbed what caught my eyes & left. But I will definitely making another trip; they had a large variety of colors. These are the ones I bought

Coconut Oil

So it seems that recently coconut oil has become very popular, I keep hearing about it and the many uses and benefits associated with its use. I have started reading articles on this popular oil and was really surprised as to the many ways it can be used. But the one I really wanted to try was a treatment on my hair, it’s supposed to make it soft & healthy not to mention very shiny. I have thick, coarse hair so I cannot just wash it & let it air dry, if so it would look like I would be auditioning for a part in Lion King. So my hair routine consists of drying, then either using a straight or curling iron, so I cause a lot of damage. I need some kind of treatment that will help my hair cope with the stress I cause. Even though I have gone to washing my hair every other day, I still feel like it’s not helping repair the damage my hair goes thru daily. I have bought so many products that are intended to be used with heat, but they either smell bad or just make my hair stiff. I decided to buy coconut oil, I mean if it didn’t work for my hair, the good thing is that it could be used for so many other purposes, so it wouldn’t be a total waste. It was time to give it a try, I put it in the microwave to melt it & warm it up a bit so that it can be used as a hot oil treatment. I massaged it into my entire hair & scalp & wrapped a warm towel for about 30 minutes. I was completely surprised by the results my hair was soft but I was more impressed with the shine. I read that for best results leave it in for about 1 to 2 hrs. I only used it for 30 minutes so I can just imagine the difference if I leave it in for 2 hours. It can also be used as an overnight treatment just rub it and wash in the morning. Or just on the ends to repair damage. I found my Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil at TJ Maxx just $7.99 for a 14 oz jar. Here are a few other ways to use Coconut Oil

1. As an under eye cream because it moisturizes

2. As cuticle oil just rub it in until absorbed

3. As an eye makeup remover

4. Removes hair flyaway’s just rub into hands & then sweep through hair.

5. At home body scrub by adding sugar

6. At home treatment for dry feet just by adding salt
