Chicago Botanic Garden-Wonderland Express

These pictures are from our visit to the Chicago Botanic Garden for their annual holiday Wonderland Express. It consists of many exhibits featuring miniature replicas of Chicago’s most recognizable buildings with trains running thru all exhibits: high & low. What I love to see is the many plants that are used in all the exhibits and of course the holiday displays. At night the Christmas lights go on and it’s a beautiful view. This is another place that you can visit in Chicago during the Holiday Season. For more info visit: http://www.chicagobotanic.org/wonderland

Zoo Lights-Lincoln Park Zoo

Another place we love to visit for Holiday fun is the Zoo Lights display at Lincoln Park Zoo. And the great thing about this celebration is that it’s free. It runs from December 5th to January 4th. The lights are turned on from 5-9 pm and that’s when all the fun begins. The lights dance in sync to Holiday music, and they have so many Christmas animal displays. We received 3d glasses so anywhere there is light you see little elves. They also have Ice-skating, which is $5 admission plus an extra $5 for skate rental. For more information visit:http://www.lpzoo.org/events/calendar/zoolights

Morton Arboretum Illumination

The next place we decided to visit was the Morton Arboretum for their Illumination display. It includes trees covered in LED lights that respond to touch and dance to music. This is the second year for this display; last year when I heard about it, it was sold out. So I made sure to buy my tickets early. I loved the Hug A Tree display; trees change color the moment they are hugged. They also have the Crystal Promenade, where trees are adorned with crystal chandeliers that dim with the music. And the best display is the Symphony woods where the lights dance to music by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. It’s a great place to visit if you love Holiday Light Displays. They also have numerous fire pits so if you’re cold you can warm up for a moment & continue with the path. Museum of Science & Industry

I love how there is so much to do here in Chicago during the Holiday season. So we took a trip to the Museum of Science & Industry for their annual Christmas Around the World and Holiday of Lights. It features Christmas tree displays with ornaments from around the world. The main tree is decorated in the theme of this year 2014, which is Disney. While we where there we also visited the temporary exhibit-Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives. I love that they have a drawing class there, where they showed us how to draw Mickey, even though mine ended up looking like he’s mad. It runs until January 4th 2015.

Pumpkin Patch

So October is the month for Halloween & everything related to it. So it was time to plan a visit to the Pumpkin Patch. We chose to go to Bengtson’s Pumpkin Fest because I hadn’t been there before. And like most Pumpkin Patch they are only open for a limited time. I must say I did have a great time they have so many things to do. The day we decided to go was really cold and it had rained the previous day, so because of that we did not finish the Corn Maze, it was muddy. But we did wait in line for the Mega Fun Slide, which seems was very popular cause there was a long line. And it was well worth it. After, we had to try the Apple Cider Donuts, which are made fresh everyday, yum. They have pig races, camel rides and many kids rides. They also have one of the best Animal & Petting Zoos I’ve ever been to, and of course you can feed them. Plus it was decorated for Halloween because we went in late October. They have so many varieties of pumpkins, all sizes and many colors to choose from. For more info on Bengtson’s Pumpkin Fest : http://pumpkinfarm.com
